Meet the Artist
Hi there!
I’m Alice Nguyen, a Vietnamese Australian watercolour landscape artist celebrating places that are soul-healing and life-giving for women finding their way through life’s challenges.
Inspired by the tranquil beauty of national and local parks across Sydney, each painting focuses on the resilience you can carry, much like the solitary tree standing strong. Growing up as the eldest daughter of Vietnamese refugee parents in Australia, it was time spent in nature where a sense of freedom and belonging emerged, whilst navigating the tension between personal aspirations, societal pressures, and cultural expectations.
Recurring motifs of eucalyptus trees and rivers within my paintings, reflect the unspoken bonds you share with the people and places that nurture your growth. As these rivers flow through peaceful landscapes, the soft light filtering in represents the moments when you’ve felt deeply connected to the spaces that continue to support you.
With over a decade of nursing experience, my practice is shaped by a deep awareness of physical and emotional suffering, and the universal longing to feel safe at home, especially for women. Just as I comforted my patients and their families, my landscapes explore themes of mental health, emotional endurance, and the strength to rise above societal and cultural expectations.
If you’ve ever felt the weight of expectation, you’ve come to the right space. You can explore my work here.
My work has been showcased internationally at the London Open Art Vision Festival (2022), Sydney Royal Arts & Crafts Competition (2025), and is held in private collections.
